All About Evan

My mom and Evan, this was the first outfit we got to put on him.

Us on Evans blessing day.

Leif and Kylie seeing Evan for the first time.

Farmor (grandma) Arrhenius holding Evan. This was the beginning time of his chunkiness.

I went up a few times a day to sit with Evan, and I could only hold him "Kangaroo" or "skin to skin" once a day at first, then twice a day, until he began to learn to nurse.

One of the first times I helped to give Evan a bath. Those are the nurses and my moms hands.

My mom and I with a very small Evan, a couple of days after his birth.

Evan under the Bilurubin Lights (for jaundice) Note the largeness of the binki next to his tiny mouth. He could still take a normal sized binki! Amazing to me!

Nik and I visiting Evan (one of the first times I saw him)

Its Been A While!

Its been forever since we have updated our blog, I know, but I decided it is time to turn over a new leaf and use this thing more. Sooo since last time we have updated things, a lot has happened. Erik has grown up a ton (hes 2 now), Nik is still going to school (masters degree) and throwing, I (Tiffany) am coaching the throwers at Utah Valley University and being mommy, and we have had a new addition to our family little Evan. Evan coming was a huge ordeal and surprise, not that i was pregnant, but that he came 10 weeks (or about 2 and a half months) early. My water broke at 29 weeks almost exactly, it was new years eve and we went to outback for dinner and I got up to leave dinner and told Nik, uuuhhh this is not right. So we went to the hospital and they checked me in and confirmed that it was the amniotic fluid leaking, and promptly gave me a bunch of steroids to help develop his lungs for if and when he came early. They said I would not be leaving the hospital until I had a baby with me. Happy freaking new year. So long story shorter, I lasted 9 days in the hospital on bed rest and then finally had Evan (who didn't have a name for a couple of days) at 30 weeks (gestational age) on the 9th of January, C-Section. He was 3lbs 5oz. and 16 inches long. He stayed in the newborn ICU for 8 weeks, and I was in the hospital 4 days because I experienced excessive hemorrhaging after the surgery and had to have 5 units of blood. It was a very scary, and faith strengthening experience for us all, and I can honestly say I will never look at a healthy baby the same way, each child is truly a miracle and gift from our Heavenly Father. So, now Evan has been home for almost 3 months, he came home on oxygen and an apnea monitor because he experienced some apnea issues, as many preemies do, and still sometimes forgets to breathe when he gets into a deep sleep (in which case the monitor tells us ). Other than that, he looks healthy and strong at almost 16 lbs now and almost 5 months old (technically more like 2 1/2 months from his real due date) and is progressing well, he will just reach some milestones a bit later than expected for his age because of his prematurity until he is about 1. So, that is a long and drawn out (supposed to be condensed) version of our lives up to this point. Hopefully I can keep up, and more will follow, and I will try to keep putting on more updated photos for all to enjoy. Thanks for not falling asleep during that boring monologue.:)

Erik laughing at the girls blowing bubbles

Here we are celebrating Niklas' 26th birthday.
Niklas blowing bubbles for Madeleine and Elisabeth. Erik heard the girls laugh as they popped the bubbles and he started to laugh as well.

Anders and all the grandkids
This was the first time Niklas and Erik met after one and one half months. They happened to be wearing matching clothes too.
